informal verbs with ka are considered gruff, bordering on rude, and generally shouldn't be done except between very close friends the only exception to this is the "lets do" form where ka at the end is acceptable and friendly

Didn't Mariko eat the yakitori? (best way to make an informal question is raising the tone of your voice for the end of the sentence (around katta))
