が
is an attention hog when used in place of wa, draws lots of attention and emphasis to the thing it is related to, as such should only be used as a pure subject marker when wa cant be used - the answers to questions using ga are responded to with ga (also used in many set phrases that dont follow this rule)
- always marks the subject
- aside from in patterns that use it as a matter of course, it draws attention to that subject
