what did hazen and shaver do
- conducted a ‘love quiz’ in the local newspaper
- quiz of nearly 100 questions
- analysed 620 replies
had 3 sections:
1. assessing respondants current or most significant relationship
2. general love experiences
3. assessing attachment type by responding to one of 3 statements - asked people about their childhood attachments and views on romantic love
what did hazen and shaver find
strong correlation between childhood attachment and ideas on romantic love/ success in adult relationships
- secure= good and long lasting romantic relationships
myron wilson and smith findings
- studied 196 london children aged 7-11
- BULLYING
- insecure avoidant infants more likely to be bullies
- insecure resistant infants are most likely to be bullies
- secure children unlikely to be affected by bullying

-attachment type is associated with quality of peer relationships
- securely attached infants have better relationships in later childhood than insecurely attached infants, who have problems with friendships
