On 24 June 2021, the government published plans to update measures to ensure fire safety matters are incorporated at the planning stage for schemes involving a relevant high-rise residential building.
On 20 July 2021, updates were published to place greater emphasis on beauty, place-making, the environment and sustainable development and to underline the importance of local design codes.

What do you know about the Equality Act 2010
It gives legal protection from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society, consolidating three previous duties covering race, disability and gender, bringing them together into a single duty, and extending it to cover the ‘protected characteristics’ of age, sexual orientation, religion or belief, pregnancy and maternity, and gender reassignment.

2016 - The Planning Act 2016, which replaced the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, aims to establish an efficient, effective, transparent, integrated, coordinated, and accountable system of land use planning, development assessment and related matters that facilitates the achievement of ecological sustainability.
Building regs part M - Access & use of building
2020 -The Coronavirus Act 2020 was designed to protect public health and ensure sufficient preparation for a worst-case scenario. The Act ensures that:
- the NHS had the capacity to deal with the peak of the virus
- critical societal functions are protected and able to continue
- effective support packages are in place for people and businesses
These powers are temporary and designed to be switched on when necessary, and off when no longer needed.
The Act requires ministers to publish a 2-month and one-year report on the status of the non-devolved provisions.
