Immuno 8 Flashcards
Examples of HSN Type 1?
Anaphylaxis, allergic and atopic disorders
Examples of Type II HSN rxns?
Autoimmune hemolytic anemia, pernicious anemia, idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura, erythroblastosis fetalis, acute hemolytic transfusion rxns, RF, goodpasture’s, bullous pemphigoid, pemphigus vulgaris
Examples of Type III HSN rxn
SLE, polyarteritis nodosa, postretptococcal glomerulonephritis, serum sickness, arthus rxn (ex after tetanus vaccine)
Exmaples of Type IV HSN rxn?
MS, guillain-barre, graft vs. host, PPD (for TB), contact dermatitis
High points about Type I HSN?
Antigen, IgE, Mast cell, Basophils, histmaine
High points of Type II HSN?
Anti-self antibody (cytotoxic ie. antibody mediated)
High points of Type III HSN rxn?
Antibody against antigen that deposits in tissue (ie. immunecomplex)
High points of Type IV HSN rxn?
Delayed (T-cell mediated)
What are the 3 ways to activate complemetn?
- Alternative. 2. Lectin. 3. Classic
What is the starting point of classic pwy?
C1
What is the important end-product of complement pwy?
MAC
Functions of C3a and C5a?
Anaphylaxis. C3a stim mast cells and basophils to rel histamine and C5a= neut chemotaxis
Function of C5b-C9?
MAC -> cytolysis
Defy of C1 esterase inhibitor leads to?
Hereditary angioedema due to inc bradykinin. DO NOT give ACE inhib
Defy of C3 leads to?
Secere recurrent pyogenic sinus and resp infections w/ Strep pneumoniae and H. influenzae. Inc susceptibility to Type III HSN
