Imaging in Endocrinology Flashcards
Site of peripheral Visual Loss in PG?
- Eye
- Optic nerve
- Chiasm
- Optic tract
- Brain
What imaging is the best for PG?
MRI
This is not an optic chiasma tumour, it is another endocrine problem
Lateral and Coronal view of tumour in optic chiasma which causes bilateral peripheral vision loss
Which imaging is the best for thyroid glands?
CT
US
Nuc Med
Thyoid and surrounding structure in the imaging
The Tyroid gland is above/superior to what structures?
Sternum
Great vessels
Aortic Arch
What are the structures that cause Midline Neck Mass in adults?
- Enlarged Thyroid gland (most common)
- Enlarged lymph nodes
- thyroglossal cyst
Why in this scan, the patient has stridor?
Large goitre with retrosternal extension, tracheal deviation
PS; on the x ray, shape of the Trachea is narrowed and shifting to the to right and that is why she gets stridor
Imaging’s aim is to differentiate —– causes e.g. Graves, Thyroiditis from —- causes e.g. Dominant nodule
Achieved with combination of —— and ——-
Diffuse
Focal
Radioisotope studies and Ultrasound
Thyroid Ultrasound is used in what t conditions?
Euthyroid and Hyperthyroid
Thyroid Scintigraphy assessed for —- and —–of tracer uptake.
also, it is used in —- disease.
