ILT Anatomy: Liver, Pancreas, Gallbladder Flashcards
quadrate and caudate lobes are anatomically part of which liver lobe? Functionally?
Anatomically: Right
Functionally: left
What supplies non-parenchymal tissue of the liver?
Hepatic artery
What supplies hepatocytes?
Portal vein
What cells produce bile?
Hepatocytes
Describe the path bile takes as it exits the liver.
Bile made by hepatocytes drains out via the right and left hepatic ducts. These join to become the common hepatic duct. If the sphincter of Oddi is closed (between meals) the bile enters the gallbladder via the cystic duct!
Once the person eats, Sphincter of Oddi relaxes and the cystic duct joins the common hepatic duct to form the common bile duct and drop the bile off in the duodenum!
Blood supply to gall bladder?
Cystic artery (branch of right hepatic)
Over what vertebra does the pancreas lie?
L1 and L2
What does the pancreas lie posterior to?
Stomach silly
What is the uncinate process of the pancreas? Where does it lie in relation to the SMA?
Inferior part of the head , medially to the left
Posterior to the SMA
What does the head of the pancreas lie on posteriorly?
IVC, Right renal artery/vein
Most common part of the pancreas for cancer?
HEAD…that tramp
All of the pancreas is retroperitoneal except for what?
Tail..lies in splenorenal ligament
Main blood supply to pancreas?
Additional blood supply to the head?
Branches of Splenic artery!
Gastroduodenal artery gives off anterior and posterior superior pancreaticoduodenal arteries
Superior mesenteric artery gives off anterior and posterior inferior pancreaticoduodenal arteries
What do pancreatic veins drain into?
Splenic and superior mesenteric veins –>hepatic portal vein
Referred pain from pancreas?
T5-9 inferior epigastric region
