2 types of asthma:
A
- Extrinsic asthma – involves IgE/mast cell degranulation triggered by re-exposure to allergen
- Intrinsic – nonspecific bronchial hyperreactivity

- Chemicals released by eosinophils -> hypertrophy of smooth muscle, oedema, scarring & fibrosis, thickening of BM, increased goblet cells & mucous production.
