Q

What is cold soak?

A

An example of a cold soaked airplane is one that has been sitting in sub freezing temperatures overnight leading to important systems like the fuel tanks to possibly developing ice

Q

What are all of the Anti-Ice and DeIce Systems?

A

Bleed air heated engine inlets, wing leading edge, and windshield
The pitot tubes, static ports, pylon inlet ducts, and angle of attack probe are electrically heated
Horizontal stabs have boots

Q

What will cause the ENG ANTI-ICE L/R annunciator to illuminate?

A

Should the bleed supply fall below 104C
Will also illuminate approx one minute after engine N2 is reduced below 70%

12
Q

In the event of an engine failure can bleed air be supplied to the wing on the affected engine? How?

A

Yes, the affected ENGINE/WING ANTI-ICE switch should be ENG ON or WING/ENG to maintain pylon inlet heat, then place the wing XFLOW switch to XFLOW.

HIGHER N2 % of 75 to 80 will be needed to provide enough bleed air and to avoid a light from turning on

15
Q

If you are above 15,000ft at 70% with engine, wing and windshield bleed air anti ice on, will the DeIce boots be able to activate as well?

A

No you will need to boost N2 to 73-78%. Monitor Tail DEICE annunciator

16
Q

How is rain removed on this aircraft at high vs low speeds?

A

At high speeds the speed and curvature of the windshield naturally without other help

At low speeds (approach and landing/ground ops) the rain removal handle should be pulled up and the W/S BLEED switch should be positioned to LOW.

17
Q

What are two things to make sure you do when flying in heavy rain?

A

Ignition on
Airspeed 200 knots

18
Q

The airplane has been demonstrated to safely operate in standing water/slush depths up to ____?

A

0.75 inch

Igniters must be on

19
Q

Why does the Wing Anti ice crossfeed valve fail closed?

A

Why it fails closed:
* Valve defaults to closed to avoid unintentionally overheating or structurally damaging the wing, especially important on the ground or single-engine operation scenarios.
