Brakes Flashcards
What are all of the Braking Methods?
- Power brakes with antiskid
- Power brakes without antiskid
- Pneumatic brakes (emergency)
- Manual brakes (electric pump failure)
What are all of the components of the braking system?
- Reservoir
- Master Cylinders
- Parking Brake Valve
- Disc Brakes
- Accumulator
- Motor / Pump
- Power Brake / Antiskid Valve
Racecars Must Push Down And Make Pressure
How is pressure maintained when the brake pump isnt running?
Accumulator
How much pressure is the brake motor applying to the system when on?
900 psi
Will know there is a brake issue in flight? Why/Why not?
You wont know there will be an issue until the gear comes down (microswitch closed), only then will the pump be able to operate. It was asleep until that point there was no need to show constant alerts throughout the flight.
What conditions need to be met for antiskid to work?
gear is down, weight is on wheels, and the system is powered and armed (switch to on)
Turning off antiskid will have an effect of how much on landing rollout numbers?
add 40%
What is the capacity of the Air Bottle?
1800-2000psi, has enough pressure to supply a gear blow-down extension and 10 full brake modulations
How does the Antiskid system operate?
Anti Skid is watching RPMs, it goes ahead and takes some of the excess brake pressure and dumps it back to the brake resevoir
What psi level will trigger the BRAKE LOW PRESS?
750psi
