Ice and Rain Protection Flashcards
The ice and rain protection system includes:
- wing anti-ice
- engine anti-ice
- windshield heating
- air data smart probe heating
- windshield wipers
How are the engine cowls heated?
air from the low stage bleed extracted from the respective engine
What happens if there is no electrical or pressure signal present for the engine cowl heat?
bleed valve fails open
What happens to the wing anti-ice system when one bleed air fails?
cross bleed valve automatically opens and uses opposite bleed air
Describe the ice detection system
- 2 ice detectors
- failure of one detector results in loss of redundancy, auto still available if one detector works
- if both fail, manual operation only
The MCDU setting operates the anti-ice system and inhibits the ice detectors activation logic from:
takeoff to 1700 ft agl or 2 min after liftoff, whichever occurs first
In case of single AC electrical source in-flight which windshield heat is powered
left windshield
right windshield if left fails
When are the ADSPs heated?
- automatically whenever the engine is running or airborne
- manually with pushbutton on ground
Describe water and waste heating
automatic electrical heating for the water and waste system is provided to prevent ice accumulation
A-I WING 1 or 2 LEAK warning
an overheat or leak is detected in the associated wing anti-ice system
A-I ENG 1 or 2 FAIL caution
engine anti-ice bleed valve is closed when commanded open, or duct failure detected
A-I LO CAPACITY caution
wing anti-ice bleed air pressure and/or temperature is low
A-I WING FAIL caution
a wing anti-ice system failure has been detected
A-I WING NO DISPATCH caution
wing anti-ice bleed valve has failed open, mx action is required
ICE DETECTOR 1 or 2 FAIL caution
associated ice detector has failed
