Flight Instruments Flashcards
What does the Air Data System provide
air data information to PFDs, flight controls, IESS and other avionics
How many ADSs
5
ADS failure reversionary logic
Automatically reverts
Captain - ADS 1 to ADS 3 to ADS 2
FO - ADS 2 to ADS 3 to ADS 1
How many multi function probes (MFP)
four
what is the Air Data Smart Probe (ADSP)
The combination of MFP and Air Data Computer
The ADSP/TAT will sense and transmit:
- static pressure
- total pressure
- angle of attack
- TAT
What does the Air Data Application (ADA) compute?
final air data (altitude, airspeed, etc.)
What is the IESS and what are its primary functions
Integrated Electronic Standby System; permits the computation and display of:
- attitude
- altitude and associated barometric pressure
- indicated airspeed
What are the IESS’ secondary functions
- mach number
- Vmo/Mmo
- lateral acceleration/slip indication
- vertical speed
- ILS
- barometric pressure
- altitude in meters
How is the IESS powered in an electrical emergency
RAT or by batteries
How long is the IESS alignment phase
about 90 seconds, airplane must not be moved
ADS (1 or 2 or 3) FAIL caution
associated ADS failed
ADS (1, 2, 3, or 4) HTR FAIL caution
at least one of the two smart probes that feed a respective air data system has the associated heater failed
AVNX ASCB FAULT caution
one or more ASCB buses have failed
DISPLAY CTRL FAIL caution
display controller is no longer operating
DISPLAY CTRL FAULT caution
loss of a display controller channel, mx action is required
ADS (1 or 2) HTR FAULT advisory
the electronics in the multifunction probe (MFP) heater portion of the Air Data Smart Probe (ADSP) have failed
ADS (3 or 4) SLIPCOMP FAIL advisory
ADS 3 sideslip comparison function has failed
FLT CTRL ADS FAIL advisory
the electronics in the ADC portion of the ADSP has failed
TAT 1 or 2 FAIL advisory
the associated total air temperature measurement system or its heater has failed
RALT 1 or 2 FAIL advisory
associated radio altimeter has failed
