Engine Fire Extinguisher Handle PULL/ROTATE
PULL - closes bleed air, fuel and hyd SOV
ROTATE - discharges bottles
APU Fire Extinguisher Button
closes APU fuel SOV and discharges APU fire extinguisher bottle
Cargo Fire Detection/Extinguisher Button
automatically discharges the high and low rate cargo extinguisher bottles into the associated cargo compartment
Which electrical busses power the engine fire detection/extinguishing?
detection - MAU 1 (DC ESS BUS 1) and MAU 3 (DC ESS BUS 2)
extinguishing - HOT BATT BUS 1 and HOT BATT BUS 2
Describe the engine fire detection system
eight pneumatic detector loops connected to the MAU
engine fire indications
- aural warning
- fire extinguisher handle illuminates
- master WARNING
- FIRE light on respective ITT indicator
- ENG 1 or 2 FIRE on EICAS

the wing and fuselage fairing

- red stripped bar on APU emerg stop
- master WARNING
- APU FIRE on EICAS
How many APU extinguisher bottles?
one
On the ground the APU will automatically shut down if:
the APU Emergency Stop Button is not pressed 10 seconds after an APU fire detection
When the APU Fire Extinguisher button is pressed the system:
- discharges the APU fire bottle
- shuts down the APU
- closes the APU fuel SOV
- displays APU FIREX BTL DISCH on EICAS
