Engine Fire Extinguisher Handle PULL/ROTATE
PULL - closes bleed air, fuel and hyd SOV
ROTATE - discharges bottles
APU Fire Extinguisher Button
closes APU fuel SOV and discharges APU fire extinguisher bottle
Cargo Fire Detection/Extinguisher Button
automatically discharges the high and low rate cargo extinguisher bottles into the associated cargo compartment
Which electrical busses power the engine fire detection/extinguishing?
detection - MAU 1 (DC ESS BUS 1) and MAU 3 (DC ESS BUS 2)
extinguishing - HOT BATT BUS 1 and HOT BATT BUS 2
Describe the engine fire detection system
eight pneumatic detector loops connected to the MAU
engine fire indications
- aural warning
- fire extinguisher handle illuminates
- master WARNING
- FIRE light on respective ITT indicator
- ENG 1 or 2 FIRE on EICAS

How many APU extinguisher bottles?
one
On the ground the APU will automatically shut down if:
the APU Emergency Stop Button is not pressed 10 seconds after an APU fire detection
When the APU Fire Extinguisher button is pressed the system:
- discharges the APU fire bottle
- shuts down the APU
- closes the APU fuel SOV
- displays APU FIREX BTL DISCH on EICAS

aft - two
cargo fire indications
- aural warning
- master WARNING
- cargo compartment extinguishing button illuminates

Pressing the cargo compartment extinguishing button causes:
- high rate bottle discharges immediately
- CRG FIREX HI DISCH on EICAS
- one min later or upon second press in air (or upon second press on ground) low rate bottle discharges and remains in compartment for 1 hour

- forward cargo fan deactivates and vent outflow valve closes (only if bleed air is being provided)
- FIRE warning on ITT indicator

- LAV SMOKE on EICAS
- master WARNING

a fire condition has been detected in APU
CRG (AFT or FWD) SMOKE warning
smoke has been detected in the associated cargo compartment

all smoke detectors have failed in the associated compartment, or pressure in any extinguisher bottle is low, and the cartridges are intact, or any of the cartridge circuits are opened
ENG 1 or 2 FIRE DET FAIL caution

LAV SMOKE DET FAIL caution

APU fire extinguisher bottle has been discharged
CRG FIRE PROT FAULT advisory
failures of smoke detectors in a cargo compartment or any SPDA internal failure, which does not render the smoke detection completely inoperative

high rate cargo firex system armed either automatically or manually
CRG (FWD or AFT) FIREX LOW ARM advisory
low rate cargo fire system armed after high rate bottle discharged
