Blood in the anterior chamber of the eye

What can happen with hyphema?
A
- Raised IOP due to blockage of the angle and trabecular meshwork

How should hyphema be assesed?
A
- Urgent referral to ophthalmology

How is hyphema managed?
A
- Strict bed rest to prevent dispersion of blood
- Admission if high risk
- Daily ophthalmic review and pressure checks initially as outpatient
