Arrhythmias

Tall tented T waves

What can cause hyperkalaemia?
A
Renal failure
Excess K+ therapy
Rhabdomyolysis
Metabolic acidosis

WHat is it important to check?
A
Repeat bloods - ensure sample has not been haemolysed

How do you manage hyperkalaemia?
A
Treat underlying cause
IV calcium gluconate
IV dextrose + insulin
