Hyper 3 Flashcards
1
Q
Hypersensitivity Type III deals mainly w/ what type of complexes?
A
immune complexes that have precipitated out and deposit into tissues (not broken down)
2
Q
three circumstances that cause immune complex deposition?
A
1) persistent low grade infection
2) autoimmunity
3) direct formation of immune complexes on body surfaces (lung)
3
Q
four factors determining immune complex deposition
A
- size - intermediate - most deposition
- clearance - faster = less likely
- antigenic change - (+) charge likely to deposit in kidney
- anatomic/hemodynamic factors - i.e. vasculitis
4
Q
what is vasculitis? Four common places it can take place:
A
slamming against tortuous course causing antigen deposition
-glomerulous, ciliary body, choroid plexus, arteries
5
Q
vasculitis: deposition in ____
nephritis: deposition in the _ _
arthritis: deposition in __ __
A
arterioles
renal glomerulous
joint synovia
