Hydraulics COPY Flashcards
Which type of pump is needed for hydraulic systems?
Positive displacement pump
(Hydraulics needs high pressure pumps)
Name 2 basic actuators
- linear actuator - single or double
- Rotary
Hydraulics
A fluid is defined as..
- Takes the shape of a container
- Transmits power
- Gas or liquid
What are the 2 types of hydraulic oils called?
- Petroleum
- Synthetic
What is Demulsibility?
The ability of fluid to seperate from water
What is the purpose of the drain leg?
To return cooling, sealing & lubricating oil from the actuator to the tank
What do accumulators do?
Smooths out pulsations & store potential energy
What do actuators do?
It is a component of a machine that is responsible for moving and controlling a mechanism or system. In simple terms, it is a “mover”.
Requires a control device (controlled by control signal) and a source of energy (ie: hydraulics)
When it receives a control signal, an actuator responds by converting the source’s energy into mechanical motion
Name 2 types of hydraulic systems
- Ring main
- Standalone power packs
Name 2 types of accumulators
- Bag
- Bladder
