A
  • Gases eg; methane,H2S
  • Vapour or fumes from the contents of the tanks

Precautions for entering a confined space?

A
  • Leader gas monitor at head height ( tests for methane,oxygen and hydrogen sulphide) has a visual & audio alarm
  • Safety sentry
  • Comms between sentry & worker
  • Sentry has BA
  • Lifeline

Before a confined space can be accessed what precautions must be observed?

A

Space is cool
* Force vented for 24hrs
* After 24hr atmosphere is tested if not safe it must be vented for a further 12hrs the retested
* Gass free certificate issued
