HVAC Flashcards
Boiler
Water heated by lighiting a fire under a tank or heat exchanger tube
Condensation
text
Condenser
The pump that increases the pressue of fluid, forcing the Freon to condense, thus releasing the latent heat of evaporation.
Cooling Tower
(evaporator chiller)
A large box with louvers exhausting humid air or even mist.
Often found next to an office building
Double or Dual Duct System
Efficiency
Efficiency = energy delivered / energy used
Evaporator
The drop in pressure that allows the liquid to evaporate, absorbing latent heat of evaporation from its surroundings.
External Combustion Air
Air used for combustion is sometimes brought in directly from outside, instead of wasting the warmed and humidified building air.
Fan Coil System
Heap Pump System
Radiant System
(Hydronic System)
Hot water or steam is circulated through registers or even through pipes embesses in the floor, which then radaites the heat into the space.
Inudction Unit
Multizone System
