Doors, Windows and Glazing Flashcards
Astragals
Vertical members used between double doors to seal the opening, act as door stop or provide extra security when doors are closed.
May be fixed or removable to allow for a wide opening when moving furniture.
Coordinators
A device used with double doors that are rabbeted or that have an astragal on the active leaf.
The device is mounted in or on the head of the frame, coordinating the closing sequence of the two doors so that they close completely.
Flush Bolt
Used on the inactive leaf of a pair of doors to lock the doors.
Surface mounted or mortised into the edge of the door.
The active leaf then closed to the locked inactive leaf, but both can be open when needed.
Not allowed on exit doors.
