Human science cardiovascular anatomy Flashcards
What is the circulatory system?
heart, blood, vessels and blood.
What is the lymphatic system?
lymph nodes, vessels and lymph.
What is pulmonary circulation?
Right side pumps blood to lungs.
What is the Systemic circulation?
Left side pumps blood to the rest of the body.
Where is the systemic circuit?
Left side of the heart in the aortic valve.
Where is the pulmonary circuit?
Right side of the lungs in the pulmonary valve.
What are the four chambers of the car?
two atria and two ventricles separated by the septum.
What are the major blood vessels of the heart?
inferior and superior vena cava, aorta, pulmonary trunk and blood vessels supported by fat in sulcus.
Epicardium
outermost, serous.
Myocardium
middle, muscle layer.
Endocardium
innermost, endothelium.
What is the fibrous pericardium?
outermost, rigid and prevents overstretching.
What is the Parietal pericardium (serous)?
interior to fibrous.
What is the Visceral pericardium or epicardium (serous)?
wrapped around the heart.
Pericardial fluid released by serous layers lubricated for easy gliding.
Chamber
atria and ventricles.
Septum
inter atrial and inter ventricular.
Valves
AV and SL valves.
What are the Structural differences and heart chambers?
the left side of the heart is more muscular than the right side.
Function of the atrio-ventricular?
prevent backflow of blood from the ventricles to the atria.
Function of the semilunar valves?
prevent backflow into the ventricles from the pulmonary trunk and aorta.
Arteries include…
right and left coronary arteries, marginal arteries, anterior and posterior, interventricular arteries and circumflex arteries.
Veins include…
the great cardiac vein, anterior and posterior cardiac veins and the middle and small cardiac veins.
Veins carry…
Deoxygenated blood to the heart.
Arteries carry…
Oxygenated blood away from the heart.
