Blood pressure Flashcards
Normal blood pressure is?
120/80 mmHG
High blood pressure is?
140/90 mmHG
What is systolic pressure?
pressure generated during ventricular contraction.
What is the diastolic pressure?
pressure during cardiac relaxation.
What is the pulse pressure?
difference between systolic and diastolic.
What is the mean arterial pressure?
diastolic + 1/3 (systolic - diastolic)
What does blood pressure increase?
blood volume, heart rate, stroke volume and blood viscosity.
What is short term bp control?
baroreceptors, chemoreceptors and circulating hormones.
What is long term bp control?
blood volume regulated by kidneys.
Where is the cardio-vascular located?
through the medulla and pons varolli.
What do the autonomic nerves send?
messages to heart/blood vessels.
What is blood pressure controlled by?
speeding up/ slowing down or dilating/ constricting.
What do rise in BP in the arteries do?
stimulate baroreceptors.
Where are chemoreceptors situated?
in carotid and aortic bodies.
What do falls in pH indicate?
poor tissue perfusion.
