What is the definition of a system?
A complex whole, set of connecting things or parts, organised body of things.
What are the two types of information?
Quantitative –
Flight level, height, speed, heading,
location & manoeuvres – generally expressed digitally
& presented on displays.
Qualitative –
dealing with reliability, validity &
trustworthiness – based on how it is sensed, its
frequency of updating, its accuracy, its precision, the
kinds of error, failure or degradation & the means to
detect & compensate for such sources of poor quality.
What is communication?
A two stage process which includes first the transmission and then the reception of information
What is fatigue and how can it be overcome?
What is fatigue?
A condition reflecting inadequate
rest, can be acute, chronic or mental
What are the causes?
Disturbed rhythms; demanding tasks;
cumulative effects; stress
How can it be overcome?
Sleep; increasing physical fitness (related to mental
performance and health)
What are the three types of team members?
DOERS who are intent on the job that’s to be done and give the team its drive and momentum THINKERS who have good ideas and reject bad ones CARERS who keep the team together, ease tensions, promote harmony and are sensitive about relationships within the team.
