The response to a hostage taker is similar to a barricaded suspect with the exception of:
A. Allowing negotiations with the suspect for alcohol, firearms, ammo, drugs or hostage exchanges.
B. Contact officer will elicit information on well being of hostages, and negotiate with hostage taker.
C. Contact officer will elicit information on well being of hostages, and they will not negotiate with hostage taker PRIOR to SWAT/CNT arrival for alcohol, drugs, weapons, ammo or hostage exchange.

A. Designating units for pursuit/surveillance
B. Designating community oriented policing officers to contact community resources.
