Four phases of Therapeutic communication
Pre-interaction phase, Orientation phase, Working phase, Termination phase
Pre-interaction phase
- before interaction
- begin gathering information about the client before having direct communication
- begin centering and setting an intention
Orientation Phase
- when you initially meet the patient
- meet the client and introduce yourself and your roles
- address the patient by preferred name
- establish rapport and trust
