Q

What are some general featuers of Temporal arteritis?

A
  • Elderly (>50)
  • Scalp tenderness + temporal headache + jaw claudication + blurred vision + non-palpable temporal pulse
  • Increased ESR
  • Overlap with polymyalgia rheumatica
  • Ix: ESR (first) + temporal artery biopsy (definitive)

Q

What are some general features of Polyarteritis Nodosa?

A
  • Renal involvement = main feature
  • Can have other organ involvement, but lung-sparing
  • 30% have underlying Hep B
  • Microaneurysms on angiography (string of pearls, rosary bead appearance)
  • Histo: Fibrinoid necrosis + neutrophil infiltration
