Histo Rest of GI Tract Flashcards
What are the 3 main digestive glands?
Major salivary glands
Exocrine pancreas
Liver
What is the route of saliva in the salivary gland?
acinus–>intercalated duct–>striated duct–>excretory duct
What cells are located b/t epithelial and basal lamina that move secretory products toward excretion when contracted?
myoepithelial cells
What acini have cloudy cytoplasm and produce a thick, glycoprotein-rich product?
mucous acini
What acini have clear-stained cytoplasm with water based product?
Serous acini
What acini have core of mucous cells surrounded by serous demilune?
Mucoserous
What cells are intercalated ducts?
low cuboidal epithelium
What cells are striated ducts?
simple cuboidal-to-columnar epithelium
What cells are excretory ducts?
simple cuboidal–> pseudostratified columnar or cuboidal
What type of gland is a parotid gland (serous or mucus)?
serous only
What CN passes through parotid gland?
facial nerve
What type of gland is sublingual gland (mucus or serous)?
mixed, but predominantly mucous
What type of gland is submaxillary gland (mucus or serous)?
mixed, but mostly serous cells
–>serous demilunes make bonnet appearance
