Collection of stories about the gods Vishnu, Shiva and Devi. There are 18 divided into 3 equal sections.
What is the 3-fold approach to yoga?
Jnana- knowledge
Bhakti- devotion
Karma- action

creator god. constantly renews everything.
Who is Vishnu?
the preserver of earth. when adharma is strong he appears on earth in some form.
Who is Shiva?
The destroyer.
Who is Devi?
a mother and a force of wrath.
Who is Kali?
a violent godess
What is the teaching of Samkhya?
Occupied with enumeration of cosmic elements. The self is not tied to matter.
What is the teaching of Patanjali Yoga?
Concentrate on God to free you from matter.
What is the teaching of Mimamsa?
Do sacrifices correctly and get rewarded. Do it for the ritual not the reward.
What is the teaching of Vedanta?
Tries to answer what the absolute is. Is commentary to the Upanishads.
Explain the teachings of Advaita Vedanta.
strip away illusions to achieve moksha. God is found within ourselves.
