Aplastic crisis vs aplastic anemia
Aplastic crisis: decreased RBC production causing anemia only.
Aplastic anemia: pancytopenia.
Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia
Is caused by a balanced translocation of chromosome 9 and 22 resulting in a Philadelphia chromosome (BCR-ABL 1 fusion gene).
Adults less than 50 years of age.
Some patients present with unexplained constitutional symptoms or splenomegaly, but 20% of patients are asymptomatic.
Iron deficiency anemia complications
Microcytic, hypochromic anemia and restless legs syndrome
TRALI
transfusion-associated lung injury, presents with shortness of breath and pulmonary edema on radiography 30 minutes after transfusion is initiated and occurs secondary to donor antibodies binding recipient leukocytes.
