cardio vascular fitness:
(stamina)
-gets oxygen to the working muscles so body can work for long periods of time.
-eg. bleep test, 12 min Cooper run and Harvard step test
muscular strength:
-allows you to lift heavy weights but also important in sports that need force (eg. rugby)
-improved by lifting heavy weights with low repetitions
-eg. the hand grip test
muscular endurance:
-ability to exercise muscles repeatedly for long period if time without tiring
-mainly used in long distance running, swimming cycling or rowing
-eg. one minute press up test, one minute sit up test
flexibility:
-the range of motion you have at a specific muscle group
-mainly used in gymnastics and diving but also used in sports where you need to stretch to take shots eg. badminton, netball, football.
-yoga can improve it
-eg. sit and reach test
body composition:
-body mass index = your weight in kg divided by your height in (metres squared)
-lean body mass = weight of your body minus the fat
-lean fat includes muscles bones and organs
