What does CRT Stand for?
Capillary Refill Time
How do you take a Pulse for Mammals?
Place a hand on the left side of the chest and count the beats for 15 seconds. Then multiply this number by four.
How do you take a pulse for a reptile?
Doppler machine
What are the two types of thermometer?
Digital and thermal
How do you take an animals temperature?
Insert a lubricated thermometer about 1 inch into the rectum and tilt slightly to touch the rectal wall
How do you take the CRT?
Apply pressure onto the mucus membrane (ear, gums etc.) and measure how long it takes for the area to refill with oxygenated blood
How to you measure an animals respiration?
Count the breaths for 15 seconds. Then multiply this number by four.
