Drugs for HBV infection
At what age can these drugs be used?
Tenofovir
Entecavir
Lamivudine
Interferon
A
Tenofovir - 12 years
Entecavir - 16 years
Lamivudine - >3 years - only licensed for above this age
Interferon alpha - any age

Q
Children have weaker immune response, and often have milder disease, and end up as a chronic carrier.
But in which children should we treat?
A
- Decompensated liver disease
- Transaminitis, with evidence liver inflammation on biopsy
- Transaminitis, with no evidence liver inflammation on biopsy, but FHx of HCC
most can just be followed up with blood tests/ LFTs/ USS
