classification
1st degree: no prolapse
2nd: prolapse when straining and return on relaxation
3rd: prolapse when straining, do not return on relaxing but can be pushed back
4th: prolapsed permanently
common presentation
painless, bright red bleeding
examination
external- visible on inspection
internal- may be felt on PR exam
differential diagnosis
IBD
anal fissures
colorectal cancer
topical treatment
for symptom relief and to reduce swelling
anusol (HC)
germoloids cream
prevention and treatment of constipation
increase fibre
good fluid intake
laxative
non-surgical treatments
rubber band ligation
injection sclerotherapy- phenol oil
