Key features of act?
A
- Must be no greater than 24 weeks gestation
- Considered >24 wks if life of mother at risk
- Consider in cases where > risk to existing children
- Consider when physical and mental health of mother at risk
- Consider if child likely to be born with severe mental/physical issues

Gestation <9weeks
- Mifepristone
- 48 hours after mifepristone - give prostaglandin (misoprostol)-stimulates uterine wall
Gestation<13weeks
- Surgical dilation and vacuum aspiration
Gestation - 15 weeks
- Surgical dilation and evacuation

General complication:
- Those of GA
- Haemorrhage
- Infection
- Retained products of conception
- Psychiatric complications
Specific complications:
- Trauma to the genital tract
- Asherman’s syndrome - Adhesions/fibrosis of endometrium
- Perforation of pelvic organs
