Endometrial Cancer?

What is it?

A

Uncontrolled differentiation and proliferation of the endometrium:

Causes:

  • Unopposed action of oestrogen on the endometrium

Risk factors: (ENDOMETRIUM)

E - Early menarche

N - Nulliparity

D - Diabetes Mellitus

O - PCOS

M - Menopause (late)

E -

T - Tamoxifen

R - HRT

I - Increased risk with other cancers

U - Unopposed Oestrogen

M - Menstrual irregularity

  • A Woman with postmenopausal bleeding is considered to have endometrial cancer until proven otherwise
  • Premenopausal women - intermenstrual/post-coital bleeding
  • General Symptoms of malignancy
