Investigations:

• Microscopy and culture

Treatment:

• Topical preparations
  
  • imiadazoles
• Oral preparations
  
  • fluconazole

Question 2

Non Sexually STIs?

Bacterial Vaginosis?

Answer 2

Organism:

• Gardnerella vaginalis

Symptoms:

• Asymptomatic
• Amsel’s criteria (3 of 4)
  
  • White homogenous discharge
  • Clue cells visible on microscopy
  • Vaginal pH >4.5
  • Positive whiff test (fishy odour)

Investigations:

• Refer to Amsel’s criteria

Treatment:

• Oral metronidazole (5-7 days)
• Topical metrodidazole or clindamycin
