goth avoidant Flashcards
CARD 1: “Do you often think about death?”
Avoidant Response:
“Sure. It’s the only certainty we have. I think it’s irresponsible not to consider it.”
Why it pisses them off:
They want a symptom. You gave them philosophy.
CARD 2: “Have you had suicidal thoughts recently?”
Avoidant Response:
“Define ‘recent.’ I reflect on impermanence as a regular practice. It’s grounding.”
Why it pisses them off:
You sound like a monk instead of a patient. It throws off their crisis protocol.
CARD 3: “Do you consider yourself depressed?”
Avoidant Response:
“I consider myself observant of suffering. That’s not depression—it’s realism.”
Why it pisses them off:
You bypassed the label. Now they can’t tick the box.
CARD 4: “What’s with all the black clothing?”
Avoidant Response:
“Black absorbs light. I like to absorb, not reflect.”
Why it pisses them off:
They were fishing for self-expression. You gave them a physics lecture.
CARD 5: “Do you isolate yourself on purpose?”
Avoidant Response:
“I curate my environment carefully. I find noise exhausting.”
Why it pisses them off:
They want confession. You gave them controlled variables.
CARD 6: “You seem comfortable talking about dark things.”
Avoidant Response:
“Darkness is information. I don’t consider it taboo.”
Why it pisses them off:
They want emotional discomfort to prove your humanity. You made it academic.
CARD 7: “Are you afraid of dying?”
Avoidant Response:
“Not particularly. I’m more concerned with dying poorly—without meaning.”
Why it pisses them off:
They were ready to hand you a grounding exercise. You handed them a eulogy outline.
CARD 8: “You don’t talk much in group. Why?”
Avoidant Response:
“I’m listening for the signal-to-noise ratio to improve.”
Why it pisses them off:
They wanted engagement. You offered diagnostics.
CARD 9: “What gives your life meaning?”
Avoidant Response:
“Meaning is self-generated. I don’t rely on external architecture for it.”
Why it pisses them off:
They want to be your architecture. You’re self-constructing.
CARD 10: “You’re hard to read.”
Avoidant Response:
“That’s by design. Transparency is for glass, not for people.”
Why it pisses them off:
They want access. You gave them opacity.
