Global Winds: Trade Winds Flashcards
1
Q
What are trade winds?
A
They are air movements towards the equator. They are warm, steady breezes that blow almost continuously.
2
Q
What is the Coriolis effect?
A
The rotation of the Earth on its axis causes this effect which makes trade winds appear to curve towards the west, regardless of whether they are travelling to the equator from the south or north.
