    Major DUCT of Gl. SUBLINGUALIS monostomatica!

Accompanies the DUCTUS MANDIBULARIS
OPENS on the CARUNCULA SUBLINGUALIS

  • in the submucosa of the FLOOR of the Mouth

    OPEN Along the PLICA SUBLINGUALIS

  • Between the BASIHYOID ANd ALA ATLANTIS
  • Partly covered by PAROTID GLAND

DUCTUS MANDIBULARIS:

  • Passes rostrally btw the MYLOHYOID and HYPOGLOSSUS Muscle
  • Medial to the SUBLINGUAL GLAND
  • OPENS on to the SUBLINGUAL CARUNCLE

  • Parotid gland
  • The largest salivary gland
    (expt bo)
  • Fills the RETRO MANDIBULAR FOSSA
    (Fossa btw ramus mandibulare and ALA ATLANTIS)
  • Related dorsally to the base of the ear
  • FASCIA PAROTIDEA
  • Behind the gland:
    A. Carotis ext, v. Jugularis ext, N. Facialis, N. Trigeminus
In:
Car: small, triangular in shape 🐶
Pig: LARGE, triangular in shape🐷
OX: Club-shape🐮
Horse: 🐴
- LARGE, 
- Fills retromandibular fossa compleetly!!
- The Ventral end wider, occupies the Angle btw LINGUOFACIAL VEIN and Ext.JUGULAR veins 

DUCTUS PAROTIDEUS
In:
🐶Car - Runs across the lateral surface of the M.Masseter.

🐷🐮🐴Sus,Bo,Eq - Runa VENTRAL to the
M. Masseter .

  • ENDs at PAPILLA PAROTIDEA!
