GENITALS Flashcards
1
Q
INGUINAL CANAL
A
= Connective tissue filled cleft between abdominal muscles and their aponeurosis
o PATHWAY for VAGINAL PROCESSES
- Males: Spermatic chord + M.Cremaster
- Females: Round ligament of Uterus
o Caudomedial angle of Inguinal Canal - Blood, Lymphatic vessels A/V. Pudenda - Vasa efferentia of superficial Lnn. - N.Genitofemoralis
o CLINICAL IMPORTANCE:
- Castration
- Inguinal hernias
- Cryptochidism

Q
INGUINAL CANAL
Structures
A
1. ANNULUS INGUINALIS SUPERFICIALIS = External opening of the inguinal canal Borders: M. Obliquus Externus Abdominis - Crus Laterale/Pelvina - Crus Mediale/Femoralis
- ANNULUS INGUINALIS PROFUNDUS
= Transversally
Borders:
Caudally –> Caudal border of M.obl.int.abd
Craniomedially –> Lateral border of M.rect.abd
Craniolaterally–> Lig.Inguinale (part of M.obl.ext.abd)

Q
CANALIS FEMORALIS
A
= Channel, where femoral vessels and nerves go towards hindlimb.
Its opening from abdominal cavity, underneath inguinal ligament is the femoral ring (ANULUS FEMORALIS ).
Femoral triangle forms its borders:
- M. sartorius pars caudalis (rostral),
- M. Pectineus (caudal),
- Lig. inguinale (proximal),
- M. iliopsoas (medial),
- Femoral fascia (lateral)
Space under inguinal ligament - before canalis femoralis starts - can be divided into:
- Lacuna vasorum (for femoral vessels) and
- Lacuna musculorum (for m. iliopsoas).
