Glands Flashcards
Acini
a. Secretory components of lobule.
b. Serous, mucous, or sero-mucous
c. Outer surface covered by basement membrane
Intralobular ducts
a. Joined by confluence of 2+ interlobular ducts
b. Lined with columnar/ stratified columnar epithelium
c. consist of striated or intercalated
Intercalated Ducts
- lined by simple squamous epithelium
- drain secretory acini into striated ducts.
- important for bicarbonate/chloride exchange.
- subdivisino of intralobular ducts
Striated Ducts
- subdivision of intralobular ducts
- lined by cuboid epithelium
- ACTIVELY Reabsorb Na ion. PASSIVELY reabsorb chloride. ACTIVELY secrete K ions
Interlobular Ducts
- lined with pseudostratified columnar epithelium
- 2+ striated ducts in septae of adj. cells.
Lobar Ducts
- formed from 2+intralobular ducts
- lined with stratified columnar epithelium.
