Where does snow accumulate?
snow accumulates in a north facing hollow
How does it accumulate there? (shaded)
north facing hollows are shaded from the sun, allowing snow to accumulate
What does the accumulated snow do?
the accumulated snow compresses to form glacial ice
How does the glacier move?
the ice moves downhill due to gravity
What is Plucking?
plucking is when ice freezes on to bedrock, pulling loose rocks away from the sides
What is Abrasion?
Abrasion is when rocks are embedded in the ice and scrape away at the base
What is Freeze-thaw weathering?
Freeze-thaw weathering is when water in cracks in the rock freezes, expands and contracts weakening the rock until fragments break of
