It’s a pedestrian and cycle bridge that crosses the M8

It links Sighthill to the CBD, which increases access to the CBD for jobs and education opportunities for Sighthill residents

Residents think the bridge is an eyesore due to its deliberately rusty appearance
What is Sighthill Park?
It’s a park that was rebuilt to include play parks, allotments and a leisure centre
Why was Sighthill Park rebuilt?
To improve the mental health of residents and overall prolong life expectancy
What’s a positive of Sighthill Park?
It encourages families with children to move into the area who are more likely to buy and live there for longer
What is the Legacy Hub?
It was a hub that contained a community centre, a nursery, a GP surgery, a dentist surgery and a pharmacy
Why was the Legacy Hub built?
It provided essential services for local residents
What is a negative of the Legacy Hub? (went into administration)
The owners of the Legacy Hub went into administration in 2019 and the building was closed
Another negative of the Legacy Hub? (travel further)
The closing of these services forced residents to have to travel further to access them. Those unable to travel lost access to these services altogether
What is the Athletes Village?
The Athletes Village was accommodation built for the commonwealth games, which was later turned into housing, 400 of which became social housing
Positive of the Athletes Village? (insulation)
The houses were fully insulated, so residents have lower energy bills
Positive of the Athletes Village? (all homes were sold)
All of the houses were sold which increases home ownership in the area
Negative of the Athletes Village? (Forced moving)
During the construction of the Athletes village some residents were forced to move homes
Negative of the Athletes Village?
(not enough compensation)
Those that owned their homes were offered compensation but it wasn’t enough to buy another house
