bilirubin is conjugated in the liver, if the liver is injured, conjugation cannot occur which causes increased bilirubin

what are the roles of LDLs and HDLs?

A

LDLs - bad cholesterol, leaves deposits on vessel walls as they take lipids to cells
HDLs - good cholesterol, clean up deposits in the blood as well as removing lipids from cells

what is a potential consequence of liver cirrhosis or other hepatic obstructions to portal blood flow, like portal hypertension?

back block blood movement, cause HTN and varices (especially in the esophagus)
