Preferred for ulcers, prophylazis, GERD and hypersecretpry disorders

Malabsorption of B12, Increased risk of fracture
Antacids- MOA
React with gastric acid to form water. Reduce pepsin activity

Symptomatic relief of peptic ulcers & GERD, promote healing of ulcers
Antacids-AE
Constipation or diarrhea, systemic alkalosis, electrolyte accumulation
Mucosal protectant agents- MOA
Inhibit activity of pepsim, increase protective mucous secretion
