Importance of AlkP in Dx of liver disease

A

Elevated AlkP indicates Cholestatic disease.

e.g., Biliary obstruction.

Elderly patient with changing in bowl habit

1) Ix

A

1) Colonoscopy is the gold standard in order to rule out CA.
Cf. FOBT is a screening tool that is not appropriate for symptomatic Pt (bowl habit change). Sigmoidoscopy does not examine entire colon.
