Smooth Muscle - it is involuntary

What does the parasympathetic nervous system do?
It relaxes the muscles.
What does the sympathetic nervous system do?
It contracts the muscles.
What is a Hiatus Hernia?
the protrusion of an organ, typically the stomach, through the esophageal opening in the diaphragm
What does the free edge of the lesser omentum contain?
Behind - Portal Vein
Right - Common Bile Duct
Left - Hepatic Artery
What is a peptic ulcer and how does it occur? What is the treatment?
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria messes up the mucosa of the stomach - this allows the stomach acid to irritate that area
Treatment: give patients antibiotics to get rid of the bacteria
What is a gastroscopy?
It is when a thin tube is put into the mouth to inspect the esophagus and gastrointestinal tract

What is the function of the lesser sac?
It allows the stomach to expand

Anterior - Free Edge of Lesser Omentum
Posterior - Inferior Vena Cava
