What was happen for normal fertilisation to occur?
an ovum (egg) must be transported from ovary to ampulla of uterine tube and many sperm must be transported from testis to vagina.
which body cavity are the ovaries in?
pelvic cavity
What is the function of the right round ligament of the uterus?
attaches the uterus to the perineum
what is the function of the left broad ligament of the uterus
suspends the uterus,uterine tube and ovary from the lateral wall of the pelvic cavity
what is the most inferior part of the peritoneal cavity?
rectouterine pouch of douglas- any abnormal fluid in the peritoneal cavity will collect here
where does the vesico-uterine pouch sit?
between the bladder and uterus

What happens in female sterilisation?
tubule ligation- both uterine tubes are clipped or cut to occlude the lumen.
What is the function of the dartos muscle?
it contracts to 1.wrinkle/thicken the scrotal skin
2.reduce the surface area of the scrotum in order to maintain the correct scrotal termpeerature
Describe the journey of sperm within the testis?
from the seminiferous tubules to the rete testis to the head of the epididymis to the vas deferens
What does the right spermatic cord contain?
the right vas deferens
the right testicular artery
the right pampiniform venous plexus
what are the functions of the male urethra?
drain urine from baldder and passes semen in ejaculation
what does the seminal gland produce?
seminal fluid
what are the male accessory reproductive organs?
vas deferens, seminal glands, prostate gland and penis
what does the ejactory duct contain?
semen=sperm and seminal fluid
describe male sterilisation?
vasectomy- the vas deferens is externalised, transected and its lumen sutured closed
