-Arm chair methods- no emptical evidence to support it (no research, interview, just expressing functional view)
-Assume norms and values are transmitted through the education system as society as a whole

It’s meritocratic
people may make it further then others
it’s meritocratic because inequality is inevitable and it may seem unfair but you put in what you get out
Criticisms of davis and moore?
Equality of opportunity, every child regardless of background, class, gender, ethnicity and disability should have an equal chance to develop talents
It ignores cultural deprivation
Overall criticisms of functionalists?
It blames the victims
