A bladed execution device used during the French Revolution.
Ways the Catholic Church lost power
National assembly took Church land and sold them, Church officials would be elected and paid by the government. Catholic Church lost power.
Decisions of the Legislative Assembly
Due to the many problems - The legislative assembly threw out the constitution, dissolved themselves and the monarchy, and called an election for a new governing body - The National Convention.
Maximillen Robespierre and what happened to him
Leader of the committee of Public Safety; chief architect of the Reign of Terror. Ends when Robespierre is put on trial by the men around him who feared for their own lives, and Robespierre was beheaded.

Executive branch of 5 men that ruled France after the Reign of Terror.
Executions of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
Jacobins tried Louis XVI for treason; beheaded him on the guillotine. Marie was also sent to the guillotine.
Deaths during the Reign of Terror
About 85% of people killed were peasants, urban poor, and middle class. Anyone who was considered an enemy of the revolution was executed.
Ongoing problems within France throughout the revolution
Government debt, war with other European countries, violence within France, rising cost of bread.
Accomplishments of the Directory
Made peace with Prussia and Spain, but continued the war with Austria and Great Britan. Created a constitutional monarchy.
Impact of reforms on the Church
Many people were devout Catholics and did not like the reforms on the Church, so they no longer supported the revolution.
